Lecture: Geoff Dyer on Diane Arbus

I attended a lecture at the National Gallery of Scotland entitled "What is the Difference between a Flower and a Weed?: Geoff Dyer on Diane Arbus". There is already much on the web about Arbus and so I will not try to repeat it all here, this is just to give a taster of the lecture.

First up in the lecture was the revelation that Diane is to be pronounced D-Anne, news to me!

The talk discussed photographs of Diane Arbus, for example here in action at a beauty pageant:

And photographs by other artists having some parallels with Diane Arbus, here an image by August Sander:

So what finally was the "Difference between a Flower and a Weed"? Well it was found in a fortune cookie and the answer was revealed to be "A judgement".
